Twin peaks (1990)

"I would read some books rather than see this show anymore!"

All of the characters are very odd - like in the movie "Fargo" - but not humorous like in that movie. I hope wisdom prevails and this kind of nonsense should be avoided in future.

Absolute nonsense, even though the first season to some extent was o.k. I watched it 3 times just to make sure I wasn't missing anything. It was so weird and I had heard so many comments about how wonderful Twin Peaks was...

Season 1 was tolerable I guess, but James Hurleys drive tour was total waste of time. I literally could not force myself to watch the entire second season. Only the first 10 and then the last maybe 3 episodes - because this is the most overrated title ever made and I have it on DVD.

It was so boring and frustraitin and the ending was just more than enough to take for. Why did I not just Quit?

The frustratingly-slow pace of the show seals the deal. slow, slow, SLOW-moving story... people must feel obligated to rate it so high. Or surely for some elderly folk this brings back memories... but how come they come to imdb to give a vote, its beyond me! Being old is simply not a good argument alone.

So many unnecessary scenes... so little proper criminal investigation... This is not life imitating art, as much as art doing its best to imitate completely mindless ideas. What exactly is their criteria of what is original? Sure, compared to the "Bill Cosby Show" it's original...but its alleged wild ingenuity, or whatever... more like rather silly stuff with dwarfs and other Fellini-eccentricities.

Kyle MacLachlan (I should get a medal for bothering to spell his name right)... the apparent quirkiness of the disjointed characters was just too much to bare more than 3 times.

some people have given it 10/10, so I tried it. But I could not care about those people, except agent Cooper and Gordon Cole... and maybe the sherif and deputy Hawk. And Lucy and Andy were rather funny, and Leland Palmer was well played, and Shelly and Donna and Annie were cute and/or pretty. The main cast did not irritate me that much.

Glad I watched it 3 times so now I can talk about it when somebody brings it up.

The Elephant Man (1980)

"To see a man, who has a troubled life"

If you're looking for sad drama about a freak, and doctor who tries to make him act like a human being and socialize him, then this is a movie made for you.

The difficult life of a man who was mocked by all and sundry solely due to an inexplicable deformity of his face.

Grotesque vision of 19th century England as an era of absolute inhumanity.

The dark cold streets of the 1880's East End, streets filled with the unfortunate, the dirty, the poor...

Hideous old times which were truly horrible in which a human being had no qualms about making mockery of another human being... It was a tough time for mankind.

If Merrick wasn't in his room, which was specifically made for him, he never had it easy.

He didn't look like an elephant but his head looked more like fresh ginger

And that's probably what Lynch tried to accomplish.

The elephant man has always been a marvelous character to comprehend.

The high society of ancient times wanted to be in the company of "The Elephant Man"
"Nice story, but it could have been nicer."
I would expect more people to find this movie a bit boring and not entertaining... I am sure that pretty much nobody finds this movie entertaining and enjoyable.

It is fair that this film will be tragic because it is explaining the life of a tragic individual.

Apparently, plastic surgery was far in the future when Treves practised medicine.

Moralising narratives are at the heart of many

Call me shallow if you will, but I don't look to Hollywood to teach me the meaning of life or reinforce my moral values.

I stare at people with abnormalities even though I know it is wrong of me to do so.
